Trial Games, Practice & Season Preparation

With the new pennant season fast approaching, internal and external trial games are about to commence. These games, along with our weekly practice and coaching sessions, are an important part of preparing for a successful season.

We encourage all members intending to play pennant to get involved, attend practice and make themselves available for the trial games.

Wednesday Men’s Trial Games

  • Wednesday 16th September – Internal Trial
  • Wednesday 23rd September – Internal Trial
  • Wednesday 30th September – External Trial vs Hope Valley at Hope Valley
  • Wednesday 7th October – External Trial vs Hope Valley at PBBC

Saturday Open Gender Trial Games

  • Saturday 12th September – Internal Trial
  • Saturday 19th September – External Trial vs Modbury at Modbury
  • Saturday 3rd October – Internal Trial

Trial Game Availability

If you are not available (NA) for any of the trial games, please either place your name on the NA list located on the club notice board or advise Boris Balin as early as possible.

Providing your availability in advance makes team planning and selection much easier.

Club Practice & Coaching

Regular club practice and coaching sessions commence Tuesday 15 September.

  • Ladies’ Practice -Tuesday – 9.30am
  • All club Practice & Coaching with Ray Tuckfield -Tuesday – 12.30pm
  • Additional All Club Practice and Coaching with Ray – Friday – 5.00pm

These sessions will take place every week and provide an excellent opportunity to improve your skills, work on combinations and prepare for pennant.

Please note that selectors will look favourably upon members who regularly attend coaching and club practice. We strongly encourage everyone intending to play pennant to make the most of these sessions.

Social Bowls During Practice

While coaching and practice sessions are taking place, social bowls games are not to be played. On Tuesdays, the greens will remain closed to social bowls until after 2.30pm to allow coaching and practice to take place without interruption.

New Members & Club Uniform

If you are a new member and have not yet received your bowls stickers, please arrange to collect them from the bar.

Our new club shirts have been ordered and are expected to arrive by the end of September.

Please remember that club uniform is to be worn for external trial games. Until they arrive the existing uniform is to be worn.

If you are a new member and do not yet have a club shirt, please come and see me the next time I am at the club — Saturday 12 September — so we can make sure you are sorted before the external trials commence.

Let’s Make It a Great Season

The start of a new season is always an exciting time for the club. We encourage everyone to participate in the trial games, coaching and weekly practice sessions.

Your involvement will help us build strong teams, develop combinations and put PBBC in the best possible position for a successful season.

Let’s get behind each other, enjoy our bowls and make this a great season for PBBC!
