August 2026 Newsletter
Welcome to Our New Members
A very warm welcome to all our new members who have recently joined Prospect Broadview Bowling Club. It’s great to have you as part of the PBBC family, and we hope you enjoy everything the club has to offer — from time on the greens to a friendly chat and a laugh in the clubhouse.
Please take a moment to introduce yourself and say hello when you see new faces around the club. We’re really looking forward to getting to know you all.
Bring on the Sunshine!
It’s fair to say we’ve had a very wet winter, with the greens closed more often than open. That hasn’t made it easy for those keen to get out and bowl.
Hopefully the worst of the weather is behind us, and we can look forward to some sunshine, drier conditions, and getting back onto our beautiful greens as we prepare for what we hope will be a fantastic 2026/27 season.
There’s plenty happening around the club, so grab a cuppa and enjoy the read!

BowlsLink Member Accounts
All PBBC full and social members have a Bowls SA BowlsLink account.
It is now a requirement that all players have their own email address and mobile number linked to their account to be eligible for pennant play. (Some family accounts sharing emails have already been linked accordingly.)
BowlsLink allows members to manage their profile, enter competitions, and view certifications via the Bowls SA website or app.
We encourage all members to log in and check that their details are correct and up to date. Most records have already been reviewed and updated where possible.
Please check the following:
- Address
- Email address
- Mobile number
- Next-of-kin/contact details
This only takes a few minutes and will help avoid issues later.
Open Day – Sunday 23 August
Our Come & Try Open Day is just around the corner!
Sunday 23 August 12.30pm start
There will be a free sausage sizzle, opportunities for visitors to try lawn bowls, and a chance to meet our friendly members and explore the club.
Weather permitting, we’ll be on the greens — but even if the rain returns, we’ll still be ready to welcome visitors inside.
Members are encouraged to attend, chat with guests, show them around, and help make them feel welcome.
You never know — you might be meeting a future club champion!
27 New Sets of Loan Bowls!
Some fantastic news for the club!
A huge thank you to Colin McIntyre, who has worked tirelessly on grant applications to secure new equipment for PBBC.
We are excited to announce the arrival of 27 new colourful sets of bowls in a range of sizes, supplied by Ozy Bowls. These will be used for Night Owls and function hire, replacing many of the older sets currently in use.
This is a major step forward for the club, supporting the continued growth of Night Owls and improving our facilities for visitors and casual bowlers.
And best of all — they’ll look fantastic on the greens!
Well done and thank you, Colin.
Open Fours Gala Day, Monday 2 November

Social Bowls
Winter social bowls will conclude on:
- Saturday 5 September
- Wednesday 9 September
A sincere thank you to our dedicated volunteers Chris Season, Pat Talbot, Barry Henley, John Haseloff, Sandra Burns and Jan Smith for their outstanding efforts throughout winter. They have ensured there was always a friendly game available whenever conditions allowed, and their contribution is greatly appreciated.
The good news is that Friday social bowls will continue through the warmer months.
A big thank you to Frank and Peter Kelly, who have run this popular competition for many years. It remains a great way to enjoy a relaxed Friday afternoon — a bowl, a chat, and plenty of laughs.
Outstanding Membership Fees
A reminder that a small number of membership fees are still outstanding. Fees were due by 31 July, so if you haven’t yet paid, please do so as soon as possible.
Our Treasurer will certainly appreciate your prompt attention to this.
Condolences
The club acknowledges with sadness the passing of Barbara Culley on Saturday 8 August.
Our sincere condolences go to Ron and the Culley family during this difficult time.
Barb and Ron have both been valued and long-standing members of our club, and our thoughts are with the family.
And finally…
There is plenty happening at PBBC as we move closer to the new season.
A sincere thank you to all members, volunteers, selectors, and organisers who continue to contribute their time and effort to make our club such a welcoming and enjoyable place.
Now we just need a little cooperation from the weather — less rain, more sunshine, and dry greens!
Bring on the 2026/27 season — we’re ready for bowls!
